Build It at Magna
13th December 2007 & 26th January 2008
On the 13th December and 26th January family groups took a trip to the Magna science museum where they were given the task of building a miniature working village. Over eighty people from the Rossington group joined others in the two sessions. The groups were provided with expert help and almost unlimited materials.
Each family group made a different part of the village, including houses, shops, power stations, farms, windmills, train stations, trains and cars. Each miniature part of the village was completely unique, with lights and real moving parts. Each family group’s model was then brought together to form a complete “perfect” village.
Build It - Evening Session One
10th January 2008
On the 10th January family groups met at Rossington All Saints for our first evening sessions. New forms of transport were designed and tested for our model village. Using foam and paper family group s built flying gliders, flying delta wing planes, straw rockets and model space shuttles. Each was given its maiden flight by taking advantage of the raised stage and space in the main hall.
Build It - Evening Session Two
17th January 2008
On the 17th January, groups used card kits to make further vehicles for the village. This time we focussed on construction vehicles. Among the creations were working pneumatic diggers and tipper trucks and electric fan powered cars.
Build It - Evening Session Three
24th January 2008
On the 24th January, groups used card kits to make further vehicles for the village. This time we focussed on construction vehicles. Among the creations were working pneumatic diggers and tipper trucks and electric fan powered cars.
